I am about to start graduate school.

I have no direction. I don't want to do it, but I am committed to it. I hate my family and I won't be far enough away from them. I thought that I would be much further. What do I do? I'm looking at 40 years of soul-crushing work and just want to be a NEET in the woods. Can I join a monastery?

Not all jobs are 'soul-crushing', even the 'soul-crushing ones' can be cozy, you just need the right attitude and to make sure that your needs outside of work are being taken care of.
