I probably won't be able to go to college unless I get more financial support than I have. I've been working a waitress job to get a little extra money to help cover it, but my dad won't be able to help me as much as he thought he would and I don't qualify for a lot of the aid we thought I could get.
I started looking at military scholarship stuff, and I feel like this might make everything work for college while putting less strain financially on my family. My dad served in the military too, so I feel like I have a grasp on some parts of it I might not otherwise.
I talked to him and my mom about it and they both got really upset. They kept saying how the guys there are too aggressive and they worried about me getting assaulted or raped, or pregnant if I ended up with a guy there.
They'd told me all my life how important it is to get a college education so that I could support myself if I needed to, but now they're saying it's better to just not go to college than to try getting it through the military. Is it really that unsafe for women there? I didn't think I'd be getting sent into combat or anything so I thought it would be fine for me. I really don't want to give up on college and this feels like it might be the only way to make it happen.
