If a man can have sex with you before marriage, he will refuse to marry you since you are easy and give him what he wants without commitment, so there is no reason to commit to you if he can get what he wants without commitment. But if you refuse to have without marriage, then you have "passed" the test and he knows that you actually wife material and will more likely be loyal.
