im prescribed dexamphetamine for my ADHD. usually i take 5mg in the morning and 5mg in the afternoon so it can last all day because i take the short effect ones.

i took 10mg at once this morning because i have to study for a test thats on tomorrow. i thought that would be fine, but when it kicked in i felt extremely energetic, restless, twitchy and uneasy. the main side effect i get from dex is heart palpitations, but this was different.

i couldnt stop twitching, rocking back and fourth and pacing around my house, i think i accidentally got high off it.

when it started wearing off, about 4-5 hours later i suddenly got a masssive wave of sadness and depression. which is not normal for me. its almost like that was me 'coming down'?

it was such a shit experience, especially since i just wanted to focus and study.

does it sound like i accidentally got high? because it definitely felt like it. i smoke weed weekly but ive never taken any stimulants or uppers outside of my prescribed dex. so it was really fucking weird to experience that.

never took it, but sounds pretty much like a come down. It's not "getting high" just too much at once and after trying to downregulate overactivity, you need time until your receptors are stable again.

You literally got an answer to your question already. You just took too much. Dont do it again.

>and what i should do next?

Talk to your doctor or your pharmacist. Or hell, even ChatGPT.
Most likely what you need to do is just return to taking it the way you did before, without skipping any doses, or doubling up.
You threw your system off balance because it was used to a very specific amount of this drug (and the neurotransmitters it affects) at specific times. Suddenly you flooded your system with twice that amount. And then when the effect wore off, it was much more pronounced.

Stimulants have a much more immediate effect than most other medications.Positives, and negatives. Any change you make, you're going to feel. And it seems like you're sensitive to them.
Keep things steady. And if you want to stop, taper slowly.
Talk to your doctor if you want a stronger effect, and they will tell you how to do it.
