How the fuck do these faggots know it's me? Am I just going to be banned forever now? All I want to do is make innocuous posts in my film club subreddit.

I made an account a month ago and subscribed to a bunch of random subs to throw them off my trail. It worked until I re-subscribed to the places I actually wanted to post in, and shortly after posting I got banned. So what's the strategy? Just post like a completely different person for six months? Or are they going to ban me every time I go back to the places I used to post in? Fuck this shit, and fuck these jannies.

Likely an IP ban from an administrator. With enough cause and I think 2/3 repeat offences, they'll do it. I asked an admin to do it once because a kid doxxed another player in TLOU Factions subreddit.

Not OP but damn that game was comfy, haven't thought about it in years. I loved crouch-walking around healing everyone, doing a molotov dance, and planting nailbombs underneath window ledges and in shrubs and around corners

Right? I was a mod of that sub for the longest time, and that mp game was literally all I'd play for maybe 5-6 years.

When I made my account and left it dormant without posting (using a VPN), they didn't identify it and ban it. It was only after I tried posting on one of my old subs again that they banned me about 12 hours later. Do I just need to confuse the filter by posting in a bunch of random different places until it thinks I'm someone else entirely?

I'll actually try to help you, OP. For what it's worth, the format of reddit is actually pretty good, the hatred that we express towards is mainly for the people it attracts and how sanitized it has become. 80% of subrreddits are modded by the same people

Anyway at my worst I had ~4 reddit accounts at the same time so that I could evade posting limitations without bans. I had a few accounts perma-banned for ban evasion and so I've kinda done some autistic AB-testing to figure out the rules. Here goes:

> Device tagging
If you log into multiple accounts on the reddit app, reddit will assume they are all the same person. If you use a new account to evade a ban on the other in this way = guarenteed ban.

> IP tagging
Similar issue. Logging into two accounts on the same device but having one logged into the app and one on your browser, this makes a slight reduction in your chances of a ban.

>location tagging
As far as I can tell, there is no location tagging. 2 PCs in the same house are just as connected as two PCs on opposite ends of the country - at least to reddit.

> Time
Waiting a bit before using your alt account reduces the chances; more than 5 days seems to make a difference. Note that reddit seems to only care about how long it takes for you to post to the same subreddit

> Karma
High karma is used by most reddit mods as an indication of legitimacy.

Basically, the META is to log onto a different PC or at least don't use the app. Get some easy karma from another subreddit, wait a few days, and re-try.

Note that you can literally copy and paste posts from your banned account and reddit won't care. You also have to bear in mind that whilst the site-wide admins are fairly consistent, mods between subs vary from "who cares" to "1984 dictator." Some subs run special scripts which will well and truly make it impossible for to evade a ban without a VPN and new PC

Don't use reddit, but if you must, do this.

But isn't there CGNAT, where multiple internet connection will share the same IP?
How does reddit differentiate the false positives in this case?

Same poster here. I have heard complaints of false positives, I don't know if reddit has fixed this.

My impression is that the IP tagging is quite "weak." By this I mean that reddit doesn't immediately freak out if your IP is the same but it will get suspicious. I notice that you can use the same IP and not get filtered out by the default spam filters, but avoiding a ban? I dunno. I've used multiple alts on the same IP to re-post the exact same copy-pasted post at a higher frequency than is normally allowed and as I was fine. I wasn't banned to begin with though.

Also I forgot to mention that reddit cares very little as long as you don't get banned by a sub moderator. You can screw around with alts so much it's insane, but the moment you get a sub ban, all this big brother crap kicks in.

A new device with a new IP/Using a VPN is the only way. If you change only the IP, you'll get banned in a day or 2.

config files, WiFi router data and hardware ID if they're very paranoid. Many of your PC components (SSD, GPU) have an identifier number which your PC stores and can be accessed by software. If your autism allows, there exists software to change this ID, and then perhaps you can check if Discord is tagging it.

>>33270438
I'm no expert but my understanding is that no website outside of your local network can access your MAC address. If discord knew your MAC, there is truly no hope of getting around a device ban.

Fact is, they most likely use multiple forms of ID with different weightings, meaning you would have to change multiple factors.

I don't know the proper name for it but there are many bots that you can implement into your sub that will automate certain mod tasks.

For example, one of the erotica subs I once read (I'm a former coomer, sad I know) has a bot that automatically bans you if you don't read the rules and send through an acknowledgement to the mods.

The most common one is a bot which bans anybody who has posted on another sub of their choosing. the teens sub once famously auto-banned everybody who participated in subs that only adults would use e.g: 40+ and 30+ dating personals. This was how it was proven that r/teens is mostly pedos. Most free karma subs are on the ban lists of the more tightly-modded subs, so if you post to those for free karma = ban.
