Is sex work really empowering? I feel like whenever women get into an aggressive role, they already expect theyll be an object of desire, they genuinely think theyre all that and they lure in any man like a siren magically. I tried playing with some strippers and they dont really have that sales attitude, they fold easily, theyre not like men are (not saying every man) when it comes to rejection, they gotta have the last word.

>Is sex work really empowering?
It depends on the person.
For most workers, no. A failure to find worth in yourself and a resentment of "society's expectations" (your own expectations that you hallucinate are coming from other people) cannot be escaped by violating norms.
For those who find power in their ability to be sexually appealing and worthy, yes. But most people are not like that, and only wish they could be.

Does it surprise you that a baggage carousel thinks it has value merely for being present?

Statistics show that over 85% of sex work want to quit it, so it's not empowering, but degrading. In fact, some people like Trent Horn have used this fact to debate whether sex work itself should be allowed becuase it's essentially coercion. Either way only in the modern times does it have the fascade of empowerment since sites like OnlyFans try to promote it to more naiive younger people.

'Sex work' is not empowering. Empowerment implies deriving power from oneself, from one's own ability or nature or aptitude.

'sex work' wholly relies upon the participation of other people, it also depends on other people's time and resources. Meaning the 'power' is given from other people and not oneself.

So it's the opposite of empowering, it's actually a form of dependence.
