That you won't be able to save all of them and that it will probably haunt your memory.

The job is awesome 90% of the time but there’s that 10% that makes you wish you won the lotto and didn’t have to work. Being away from family and your children sucks, dealing with inter personnel drama and issues sucks, the new generation of workers sucks, but other than that it’s a blast 110 days a year.

You’re never going to get rich being a firefighter and if you’re not into being a firefighter 100%, you’ll be eaten alive.

There’s no secrets in the station. Whatever skeletons you got will come out unless you tell them first. You lie once and you’ll never be trusted by anyone.

How’s your sense of smell? Some of the smelliest people you’ll ever meet will be your co-workers and some of the dumbest people you’ll ever meet will also be your co-workers.

Do you really want to fight an inanimate object for a living?

Get paramedic/EMT training at the same time. You'll be more valuable as there will be less fires and more of us old farts dying.

where do you work? everyones definition of rich is different. you wont make 1 million dollars a year but you can make 150k plus every year by your 6th or 7th year depending on what you do. you can retire a millionaire guaranteed or walk away with 10k a month at 50 years old for the rest of your life.
