Need advice on who my favorite philosopher should be. I have a degree in philosophy. Most philosophers, when polled, had no answer to the question. I want an answer.

Whoever you like, mine is Soren Kierkegaard since I do agree mostly with existentialism I would say and Soren Kierkegaard had anxiety and depression like me

one time i did a report on a philosopher in high school and i was retarded and thought it was just supposed to be facts about their life and i think Soren would have found the fundamental misunderstanding amusing in a defeatist way

a legacy of thought reduced and left embarrassingly unanalyzed with only remarks to his physical experience

Philosophy after ancient Greek and especially continental philosophy after Kant is overrated. Most of those philosophers said the most basic shit and their opinions are held in high regard because of authority and tradition. I mean, they aren't bad but putting them in schools beside their contemporary scientists like Einstein is weird imo. I know it's personal taste, I've read random books and even comics whose themes for me were as interesting and thought provoking as most of the stuff these existentialist philosophers felt was important enough to be put in stupidly long essays.

Although Frege can be boring, elaborating on a tiny section of Kants overall project, and mostly dealing with archaic mathematics of which some has been shown to be misguided, I still find his work very satisfying and pleasurable to read. The logical and semantic foundation of mathematics and all the precise ways we try to use language to describe it really is something unique that Frege was the first to daringly venture into

Ken Wilber is the most important philosopher of the 20th century. Academic philosophy doesn’t even understand his significance. You can throw away 2000 years of Western philosophy and just read Ken Wilber and you’ll be better off than the reverse. Philosophy education is a scam. Just read Ken Wilber and embody it.

>Need advice on who my favorite philosopher should be.

Why are you outsourcing this to others? Do your want me to tell you who your favourite musician should be? Or what your favourite color is? Would you like me to tell you how to wipe your own ass as well?

Also fuck philosophy and philosophers. Apparently the word 'philosophy' comes to us from Greek, it means 'love of wisdom.'

Most philosophers show little wisdom and even less love for wisdom entirely. All they do is bitch and whine about life. Intellectualizing their own suffering, yet never daring to truly live life in the moment. They are spectators of life, and presume to know the same amount as the combatants of life. Absolute fraudulent people who know absolutely nothing.

Confucius

Even after 2,500 years we have yet to surpass his wisdom. Never even managed to implement it.

If you cant implement it, it means it's worthless.

Nah. We're not. Especially not you. I'm sorry that you had to look for a stand-in father figure in some narcissistic gook who was born under the providence of nobility and never had to work a day in his life because his lap dog dad was a commander for local lords.

Pick better role models.

So I follow Stirner instead.
