I was never on adhd medication until just recently, but I had been diagnosed young and was put aside in classes. Now that I’m finally on adderall though I’m not fixed like I thought I would be. I’m still stupid, I’m still forgetful, I am still uncoordinated, and I don’t know how I’m supposed to be better. Everything I try feels like a dead end, I suck at all my hobbies even if I like them, and my grades in uni are shit. Maybe 15mg is just too low a dose, but I definitely felt it the first few days, but now it just kinda wakes me up more.

Talk yo your doctor. Try changing the dose or, of that doesn't work, try a different medication like Vyvanse

lol rookie numbers
plus, for amphetamines to work, the legal kind, you need a more protein-heavy diet, not to take too much vitamin C, etc. to work effectively physiologically speaking Adderall and Vyvanse need to line up properly with what's in your body and how your organs perform

Actually good advice, because if OP is clumsy throughout the day
BUT
OP will just get reinforced in his/her belief that "the meds aren't working properly" if they continue to think just popping amphetamines will solve theirs issues like switching a light on

OP, trust me, first thing you need to do is go to a CBT therapist, who also has experience with ADD if necessary. You can also read a bunch of books on ADHD with practical tips. Simply popping amphetamines and thinking everything will get better is a terrible idea. It has to be a combination of both therapy and the drugs, because your ADHD has likely skewered your internal voice and preconceptions about yourself and people.

I already get plenty of protein and keep track of it. I also workout regularly. I don’t supplement vitamin c, I get plenty from the fruits I eat. I’m going to therapy, but it’s not specifically cbt. I’ll remember to ask about vyvanse next time I see my psychiatrist though.

Man I know I need Vyvanse but I genuinely don't have the capacity to figure out how to get from A. (My current short circuted mind) to B. (To be in front of a person that can write the prescription

ok. well, as long as you explain to people you tried the best you could, but talking about medication with a doctor is an impossibly difficult hurdle to overcome, I'm sure they'll understand.

book a neurologist, they are usually the ones who get you from A to B the quickest

just a tip about Vyvanse, when you get the right dosage stick to it and lock your fucking meds away in a time locked box or smthing. Because you will feel like it comes and goes in waves and when you're at a downer point you'll think you need to redose a bit and before you know it you're on 100mg-150mg and getting poor sleep, when if you had just stuck to your dosage you'd have been fine (and much less comedown than Addy or other amphs).

No one in my family has ever seen a shrink let alone get meds.. I have actually 0 framework or visible path to work with and searching this up is too much bloat or useless Ads.

Yeah many such cases. Also seeing this too:

>take TRT but still depressed

Here’s a tip. Drugs like Adderall “reinforce” the behaviour you do when you’re on them. Take the drug and go study, attend class, work, do whatever you need to do for the duration of the drug. Usually 4-6 hours for most IR meds and 8-12 for the ER, but really, the first 4 hours are the most crucial.

Avoid all behaviour that provides “reward” without work. Social media, TV or YouTube, fapping to porn, and limit the yapping to friends. Don’t do any of that for the first 4 hours. If you need to take a break from work, literally lie down in bed for 10-15 minutes.

Take a break from the drug if you can, 1-2 weeks at least. Then follow these tips when you start up again. Try it for a few weeks and you’ll see how much more of an effective human being you become.

This unironically happened normally when docs would prescribe, tell you to take it before you leave for class, and people had no phones to distract them all day. Now every young kid is blasting ER stims while doomscrolling. Lmao

Depends on your country, and your neurologist. Some countries have a legal requirement for a psychological evaluation including the beep tests etc. Some require a minimum amount of consultations. But neurologists tend to be the ones most tolerant of ADD/ADHD medicine in general and will even prescribe it to you if for example you say you were diagnosed at school but are feeling like you're experiencing ADHD burn out. In my country I did the test but I've heard of people getting it straight from their GP too. I'd always, always combine the drugs with CBT therapy and tips and tricks like anon's >>33278688 here instead of just going to the neuropsychologist
