I have about two weeks till we shoot. I am having trouble getting my crew together despite being one of the best options in the area right now. we are bringing some real resources to the picture and that is better than most of the other stuff in town at the moment.
needless to say if i scrub the project for lack of personal than I will burn relationships with the people who are bringing the big assets.

I am thinking of rewriting the script to be something much smaller. we likely would still have a good film, but I fear if i down scale the project more people will back out, I could reveal the new script 2 3 days out and say it had to be done, but this might look dishonest. not to say going to a plan B is bad but it might look like I talked bigger than what I could pull off.

its possible that it all works out, but I need to have a plan so that I don't burn bridges. what can I do here?

Let me tell you something I wish I knew at your young age of 22. Make movies for the sake of yourself. It will drive you insane into a self loop of depression if you put all your energy into something that never gives back. It is best to just make films for yourself, because who else is gonna like what you make? Yourself. Not some well known critic, not a youtuber, not the girl you think is hot, not your mother, not your brother who barely shows up for Thanksgiving, and not the people who watch Criterion Collection films. It all is just you OP. You make what you make for yourself, nobody else... Even if it is a box office failure or a failure to the internet and critics.

the funny part is this is 100% my movie. its just the young dumb kids (I say that with love) who can help tend to follow whoever is making the popular stuff, not the interesting stuff. it's a crime action flick that calls back to 80's action that makes you say "hell yeah".
it requires more work than the sort of youtube sketch comedy that ends up pulling in most the hands.
its just a pain to get ducked for projects that are a bit more ... disposable? (I don't want to be negative the shit is usually funny) I just don't think another sketch is more interesting than a genera film that has stuff like narrative and drama.

Independent film that people won't show up to help.

So it's not a paying job.

Keep your mind on your final vision and just deal with stuff as it happens. You planned enough, if you considered it. Plans go to shit anyway. Deviation should not change the destination.

I am at the level of plans going to shit where I might not have enough actors or camera people.
