I recently took a week off from work since I hadn't had a vacation in about six months. I didn't really have any plans to go anywhere since really I just enjoy lounging around the house, playing video games, reading books, or trying out new hobbies during my downtime.

Something really went wrong this time though. I don't know why, but even a day or two before I left work, I had no energy to do anything. I wasn't excited about spending time away from work and I haven't had any interest in my normal activities. I go to sleep, toss and turn for hours as my mind runs wild, unable to sleep, and when I do fall asleep I only get a few hours. I get up and sit in my chair with no desire whatsoever and a looming feeling that I'm not taking care of any of my adult responsibilities.

This has gone on for six days straight so far. I'm over halfway done with my vacation and the only thing I've accomplished was working a side project for one day which ironically was the only day I was able to come home and sleep. Am I addicted to work? Why can't I seem to enjoy my free time anymore?

It is fairly common to lose sleep when your schedule changes. You could try waking up at regular work hours

You need to rest, you don't have to cram your free time full of shit you can just get the rest your body needs.
