Can I get some recommendations for:
1. a countertop water filter
2. a showerhead filter
3. whole house filter
The water in my area is super hard and ultra fluoridated/chlorinated and stuff.
It seems like there isn't a single reliable review of any water filters out there.

>1. a countertop water filter
Crown Big Berkey with British Berkefield Ultra Fluoride Filters.
>2. a showerhead filter
Buy a large stainless steel stove pot and fill it with filtered water from filter #1, then use a wooden/bamboo tabo for showering.
Also look into the concept of "dry showering".
>3. Any distiller or reverse osmosis filter will do, but if you have a whole house filter, you don't need filters #1 and #2.

Brita is the touchstone brand name for pitcher/filters, but any offbrand or store brand that fits the pitchers is as good

Not even close.
Berkey and British Berkefield filters have been tested by third party labs and remove 99.9.....% percent of basically everything.

Do you know how hard your water is in whatever local hardness unit?

Is there any particular premium high end brand for this you'd recommend. I'm probably just gonna save up a few paychecks and go for this solution.

will a whole house water softener be good enough compared to an RO system? RO is a tad bit expensive and increases the water bill by alot.

I really like the zero water filters, watching side by side comparisons for particulate removal they do an incredibly good job versus other brands.
