I got laid off my job of 12 years recently and am on the hunt for a new one. I literally have no idea how to find a job today--the last time I got work, I accepted a placement as part of my university's graduate program and before that I was looking for jobs in newspapers.

What's the most modern way to search job listings in my area all at once? I'm working in IT with a background in networking and cybersecurity.

Apply to the usual entry level bitchwork (warehouse, driver, customer service etc.) just to get yourself out of the house and avoid that NEET stagnation, and start revving up that resume (it will take several months for a skilled position). High turnover positions usually reply within a week or two, with something like 10%-30% callback rates, and doordash can be started ASAP.

It is going to be rough adjusting to the culture shock of an uncertain future and unglamorous bitchwork, so treat yourself well, eat, drink, smoke, etc. the good stuff whenever you need a boost in morale, and enjoy listening to all the tall tales and stories of the underclass

Good luck

Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Ziprecruiter. Also check your city/town's employment agencies for job fairs and resources, many large corps like airports and public services tend to hire a diversity of positions at all levels from janitor to senior IT guy and make themselves present at these things.

And if any company interests you, it might be good to apply directly to their "careers" page rather than relying on a 3rd party.

1. Move to a walkable, bikable and undervalued area. Sell your car. This will save you a ton of money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrl0PagJe18

2. Find out about remote jobs. https://www.youtube.com/@learnwithlukas/search?query=remote

> t. I'm not connected to either channel.

I'll take a look at remote work. I live out in the middle of nowhere and likely will not relocate, but previously I've been commuting an hour back and forth to work.

I don't really have to worry about saving money bad enough to sell my car and probably wouldn't anyway as one of my hobbies is working on my project car.
