The only ones that control the vehicle are the two rightmost. Right is go, left is stop.

Disengages the transmission.
The engine is no longer delivering power to the wheels when you press it. You need to press it fully to get the transmission then learn the vodo magic of letting it back down the engage it at what ever gear is right.
Don't freak out about the shifter as much as the fuckery of running that peddle.

Stop the car. Press the clutch in fully put it in reverse fully, release the clutch with the least gas that you can.
Yes you can do reverse at higher revs but it is supposed to be done at low revs.
BTW this is most of why old stunt driving was impressive.
