i'm 22 living with my boyfriend while he works from home and I go to school. i quit my job because the people sucked and i didn't make shit for money. don't have any savings, it all goes to rent/bills/food/etc. i don't have any friends and haven't had a serious friend since high school. i'm an artist but i feel like i was better 3 years ago than i am now. this is the first time i've lived on my own or with a partner. i feel like i'm living life all wrong, i really just need someone to talk to.

is the degradation of your art skills why you feel like you are losing who you used to be? What about the present makes you not feel like yourself? Is it just everything that has changed in the past three years?

it's one of the main factors. i'm studying animation in school and barely scraping by. i used to be a powerhouse, and accomplished pretty much anything i wanted to, but i just don't feel the same creative spark anymore.

not having a job and trying to figure out how i'll pay my bills this month has made me wonder how i let my life get to this point really. it was so exciting to move out and start living on my own, but it feels so overwhelming now and i just feel like a failure.

Was it not what you expected when you first left home? I understand where you are coming from I'm a programmer and it's hard to feel motivated while I'm working a job too. At this point I can't rely on motivation to get things done I just have to get better at enduring pain and exhaust. are you out of school rn for the summer?

yeah i'm on summer break. and at first it was exactly like i expected. i woke up early, went to school, got some lunch, then went to work. on days off i'd play games/do homework. it devolved into me skipping classes, falling behind, and calling out from work just because i was too tired both mentally and physically.

i realize that this is probably what most people go through during their early 20s, just trying to figure everything out, but since i lost my job i just feel stupid and pathetic.

most of my homework for school is animation. i took a break when summer started but i'm slowly trying to get back into it despite everything.

this gif is something i did a few weeks ago. digital art/2d animation are my only real hobbies.

i've been trying desperately to build up an online portfolio that'll help me get a remote job, although it seems impossible for me right now. my boyfriend works remotely and i'd give anything to stop waiting tables at night and then have to wake up at 5 am the next day.

I dig your art and you honestly inspire me. Iโ€™m also a 22f. Went to college for animation but I dropped out. I believe in you. I donโ€™t really see myself coming back to a college for art but I do want to work on it as a hobby for sure.
