I have a BMI of around 29.3, so overweight but inching close to obesity (I have been obese before). Now that I live by myself and can eat anywhere I want (I can't cook in the apartment I'm renting) I'm considering targeting my diet first and foremost. I plan on:

- having chicken, eggs, and fish as main sources of protein;
- avoiding pork and only eating it when it comes with vegetables, and perhaps having sausage dishes only once a week or every two weeks
- avoiding beef more strictly and eating it only once a week with no exceptions.

Does this sound good? Is it also enough for me to have walking for errands everyday as my only form of exercise?

No, not even close.

Also, if you're thinking about a diet, the most important thing to focus on is appetite reduction: you need to be eating things that make you feel less hungry for the same number of calories consumed. The best way to do that is to go low carb, or at least reduced carb. You don't necessarily have to go full on Atkins or keto, but you should be cutting out high-GI carbs by avoiding sugary things (including drinks), potatoes, bread, rice (especially white rice), and anything made from white flour; and you should be filling up on vegetables, protein, berry fruits, nuts, seeds, and whole grains instead. Also, give up alcohol and caffeine, they fuck with your appetite. And try and eat as many different things as possible, not just the same things over and over.

I think the dorms for graduate students that my university manages are only piped in food from the university cafeteria. No kitchens for the residents.

I live outside that system but still on campus grounds. No kitchen here.

Okay, but learn to like veggie- and salat bowls. With some olive oil as seasoning instead that cream shit. And totally cut the sausages, and go for walking in the evening before to sleep, no cellphone anymore at that time. Makes you sleep, that’s important.
