I lent my roommate $250 for his car repairs in Jan (he was having a breakdown about not being able to pay) and he said he would “get me back in two weeks”
That.. was in January. I’ve asked like 3 times and he keeps saying “it’s coming” do I keep pushing for it or just drop it?
He makes way more than me btw. He is in stem so idk if he just used me. Is it a lost cause?
>>33286056 (OP)It's lost if you don't build up more pressure than just asking once in a while
>>33286056 (OP)Catch him with his wallet open and say "I'll take that as part payment on what you owe me." If there are others around, all the better.
Sabotage his car to the tune of $250 in damages.

>>33286056 (OP)There is a lesson you bought with $250, it is up to you whether you learn it or not.

Never loan money to people who make more than you do. If they can't fulfill their obligations despite making more than you do, you're delusional if you think they will be more responsible in their dealings with you. Find somewhere else to live, then abandon ship at the end of the month or your lease. Leave him scrambling to find a roommate or cover rent solo. Make the $250 he owes you cost him. If he asks why you are leaving, let him know it's over that debt being over 5 months late. If he offers to repay, go ahead and take the money, but still move out.
Don't bother confronting him or trying to force him to pay. Only thing worse than a crappy roommate is a hostile roommate. Instead leave and let him melt down over his new housing crisis.
>>33286056 (OP)Any time you lend someone money, you should always assume you won't get it back. If that's a problem, don't lend it.
>>33286056 (OP)You're a fool for giving someone with less than $500 to their name money and expecting them to pay it back. If he could have paid you back he wouldn't need a $250 loan in the first place..

Some languages wont make the distinction between borrow and lend.
Speaking 2 languages makes him better at language than you are so its very ironic.
