Dallas has a good cost of living, which is why it keeps growing so fast.

In NYC you need minimum 200k to live like 100k in Dallas, don't even think about it
In fact make sure to tell that to recruiters in CA/NY. If you tell them you have an offer for 95k in Dallas, they will probably offer you at least 150k when they hear that.

Even in the nicest parts of Dallas (the new parts in the north, where all the headquarters are and they keep building new expensive stuff for all the incoming tech workers to enjoy), it's still way below coastal cost of living.

That's more than enough in Dallas. That's where I live. You'll have a good apartment, and you can certainly afford a house if you wanted to. Uptown girls used to be stuck up, but they're more desperate these days if you know what you're doing.
