In this age of extreme hoeflation and general thottery, young men are making the extremely grave mistake of overrating women. Thus they are viewing women that are absolutely average or below average as unobtainable. The truth is the bartering value of a woman is determined by her face and nothing else. This means that a woman's decision to have sex with you or not is entirely determined by how close your face is to your face on a 1 to 10 scale. It doesn't matter how big her tits or ass are, and it doesn't matter how well she can slut it up on Instagram: these do not factor into her decision and never will.
This 1 to 10 scale is not linear, or a percentile measure. About 50% of the world's population, maybe even more, is between a 4.5 or a 5.5. Think of it like having an iq of 90 to 110.
Someone with an iq of 90 isn't exactly retarded, but they are dumb enough that some tasks are near impossible for them. Someone with an iq of 110 is technically smart, and can go to college and get an advanced degree without too much issue, but they are nowhere near as smart as someone with an iq ot 120 or 130 even though they are so close points-wise.
For men, height does however play a factor. Being 6'+ adds half a point, and being under 5'10 subtracts half a point.

What confuses men is even a 4.5 can inspire extreme lust in them, so they assume, wait, she must be at least a 6 or a 7, maybe even a 9 or 10. However, this is incorrect. The truth is, it doesn't matter if a woman is skinny, fat, flat, busty, etc, she does not take that into consideration when judging if your appearance is enough that she will sleep with you. She is 100% basing it off of the quality of your face, along with penalizing or rewarding height factors, and money and status if you are at a high level.

Women have spent thousands of years trying to augment their looks, and in today's current age spend their entire lives from the age of 13 onwards using camera angles, makeup, flattering clothing, etc to make themselves look better. In fact: the ones with the most busted or average of faces go the hardest to look like fuck dolls on instagram, because they know that's what it takes to make them look appealing.

it's cool to have your own scale, but that is absolutely not what 99.9% of the people in the world mean when they use it. there's no problem or contradiction here. when other people talk about 9s or 10s they literally do just mean on a linear percentile scale

that scale is not helpful for determining if a woman is in your league or not. It's limited by recency bias, small sample size, and a host of other issues. The scale that is helpful is objectively based on things like skull development and the presence of unique features

Another factor is race. It is rare for an asian male or female to be above a 5 in the face department. This is why you see a lot of WMAF couples: A white man who is a 4.5 facially ranks among the bottom tier of white men but at the same time is looksmatched to an above average asian woman.
