look up "anime convention [nearby city]" on google or bing or duck duck go or ask jeeves or yahoo or whatever preferred search engine.

Obviously depending on your city or regional location there may be only one convention per year that you cam make it to. There may be other anime-related hangouts like manga cafes and other anime-adjacent things like retro barcades and trading card tournaments or even LARPing groups.

Obviously the bigger cons are going to be a mixed bag of pure autists and normies doing it for social media and everything in between.

Cons are not what they used to be. You're going to find normies more than anything else there, and they're not even going to be the type of anime fans you're looking for. Their knowledge of anime is One Piece, JJK, Chainsaw Man and BNHA and none of them have ever read the manga for any of those series. It's a gathering of twitter and reddit fucktards irl.
