I'm ESL, South American to be precise, and while my level is more advanced than that (not really perfect to be honest), I took a basic English course so I could get a certificate

How do I go about getting a job? I'm looking for something part-time, but that seems difficult to find. I was thinking about maybe posting an ad where I accept translation requests for a low price

I dont think simply being bilingual is enough for an income nowadays, you're competing with millions of others as well as LLMs/translation software.
Being a teacher is afaik the only way to make useful money from being bilingual

I'm still only a college student, I'm aware that I'm competing with MTL, but I would like to have a side gig to earn some income. My second option is to become a tutor for middle schoolers, but it's summer right now

Then flip burgers or pull espressos like everyone else. I'm saying no one is going to pay you to translate passages any more.

Not saying it would be a bad idea, but I'm kinda sickly and sometimes needed at home. I don't think it fits either with my schedule

I understand why you say that, but you would be surprised. I wouldn't have made this thread if I didn't think there was a slight chance. It's not that it's impossible, I just can't seem to easily find a job in that area
