I’ve always been the golden child in my grandmother’s eyes. I think it’s probably because I was born a couple months before my uncle (her son died). Ever since then, my brother has been number 2 and while we have a good relationship otherwise, I can tell he really resents this because he brings it up a lot. I have no idea how to respond to this when he talks about it. How should I deal with it?

I honestly don’t know how much he really loves her desu. To hear him talk about it, she viewed me as a precious angel who has never done anything wrong in my entire life while he was viewed as the family fuck-up. Like it’s clear I’m the favorite (not bragging just being objective), but I think that has sort of warped his view of her and even of me to a certain extent.

Tell him you're sorry. Maybe address it to her. It might hurt your relationship with her but its not right she does it. That said, you might want to keep her as an ally. Its a tough position but not as tough as his position. Put yourself in his shoes.

My father often says infront of me that my brother is his favourite son, and he jokes that i'm the milkman's son, and says things like I don't take after him. It really makes me feel really sad and deepens my self loathing which I have always suffered from. Despite that, I love my father and my brother. But it still really hurts me.
