Is it realistically possible for an alcoholic to become a responsible drinker, or is cold turkey the only solution?

Fuck teetotalers. Alcohol is one of the only things that makes life worth living. 4chan is another.

>Is it realistically possible for an alcoholic to become a responsible drinker,
No, never.
>or is cold turkey the only solution?
Correct.

Obviously it depends on whether you are actually an alcoholic or merely someone who drinks too much sometimes. But once you become actually physically addicted to alcohol, there's no going back.

I drink too much most nights, like 5-7 days a week on average, most of those days I tell myself I won't drink, but then go out to a gas station and buy a bunch of booze and get wasted, idk, alcohol can be fun and I don't wanna get rid of it completely, but I hate relying on it so much and like, at least 90% of the time I'm drinking alone. I'd like to just be able to drink socially sometimes and not have a dependence on it

My first loops are going cold turkey for about month, then drinking for about 2 weeks, then a month off etc.

Now it's only drinking on Friday and Saturday, but that's because I would replace the alcohol on the weekdays with some other less harmful substance

cbd/weed/acid/mushrooms/kratom/kanna
I drink because life sucks and alcohol makes things feel good and fun and I can enjoy things again
These things help especially in microdose because I don't have to take a lot and I can get through the day
What happened for me is that being in an altered state of mind so often it becomes the norm, which means that being sober is now like being drunk because it's different than the norm

Kratom is useful for quitting most drugs including alcohol, but you can get addicted to that too if not careful
It's a mental battle but I kicked having to do any other substances and be without drinking during the week
