how do i get my gf to stop doomscrolling and thinking her life is "over"?
her and i both graduated university a year ago in computer related fields. we got jobs as teachers and she fucking hates it. she dreads going back to work. we've been trying to build up some skills this summer until the time comes again. but she feels like the workforce is so competitive (it is) that she's just feels hopeless and breaking down at the fact that she wont ever do what she loves. what can i do?

You can try talking to her about how she feels. Why do you need to fix what she is doing?

Teach her how to ride a moped or motorcycle, it'll help a lot.

she'd love to do any kind software development, front-end development, ux/ui, or graphic design.

I try to talk with her about it. sometimes she's open to talking about it, sometimes she's not. sometimes she'll panic at the very thought of not being good enough. sometimes she'll joke about seeing herself as a shitty person. but it just makes me feel uncomfortable. i want to help her see herself as better

I understand then. It can be stressful to try and be there for someone and they aren't receptive. Hopefully you guys get through it

well she ain't wrong, op. not a good time for programming jobs.
is this her first job ever? even if she finds a "good" job, a few months in she will begin dreading it and the cycle will restart. it's how i feel about my current job (love lab work in theory, 1 years in and i want to quit because i'm bored as fuck).

life is a grind and your job is just a means to get you resources to find fulfilment, not something to define yourself as.

yeah, im in the same boat. i know that all to well
>is this her first job ever?
its the first job thats paid her (and me) thats actually given us more than anything before with benefits. but, when you're starting out from zero in a new apartment.

the grind isnt what we would mind, but rather the fact that she's surrounded with children all day and is bored by how mundane elementary subjects are and tired by the unending nonsense the average 8-year-old can conjure up
