What actually matters in a partner? How do you know if the person you're with is someone you'll be happy with for life?

I wonder this, because there'll always be someone "better" out there. Out of the 3.5 billion women/men out there, the chance that you've found the best one is pretty low.

Are there studies out there which reveal what qualities actually lead to the most fulfilling relationships?

I get it, but this is a really analytical way of approaching relationships and it’s not gonna work.

If you see your partner as a rating on a scale that improves your own rating level well y’know, you’re just gonna be obsessed with that status.

Relationships are meant to be an emotional give and take, the opportunity to be vulnerable and depend on someone else. And sex and intimacy, shared experience, the whole shebang.

Also if you want someone who is of a certain “status” well, you gotta meet their standards. Whatever that means to you.

>What actually matters in a partner?
not causing friction or contempt in ways that annoy you

>How do you know if the person you're with is someone you'll be happy with for life?
experience with a variety of suitors

>I wonder this, because there'll always be someone "better" out there. Out of the 3.5 billion women/men out there, the chance that you've found the best one is pretty low.
irrelevant. you don't need to end up with the best one

it's not a thing that can be studied, it's subjectively constructed by each person through their experiences, influenced by the way they and the world were at different times in their life. a person cloned and born 20 years later wouldn't have the same match, it's not empirical and scientific in that way

Control over their sex drive. Probably best to avoid coomers of either sex so the person isn't constantly drained of energy.

that's not something universal anon
some people will value some traits in their relationships more than others and some others would prioritize them while others don't even consider them a thing
for example for me sex is very important in a relationship, for other people it's not that big of a deal.
in general I'd say as long as you love each other, are willing to build something together and respect each other the rest it's totally up to the couple.

Purity, looks, and personality (only in so far as you need to get along and not annoy each other). All the other shit is bonus
