I'd do a couple things differently if I could go back. College was one I'd redo, especially if I kept my current social skills. But all those mistakes I made back then are what's pushing me forward. I'm better now because I was worse then.

I was coddled as child but also bored out of my mind, I the vast amounts of free time- How I could sink day after day into pointless interests. Wander around in libraries looking for boobs in manga or national geographics. Wandering outside looking at trees.
Whenever I got a video game there was the massive amount of potential energy from being bored so often that playing the video game was ecstatic , gigantic, spiritual.
I think about my childhood all the time while I work overtime every week, then I get home and drink beer and masturbate

38 years old and I only miss a couple of bits of my youth.
I miss being physically youthful. Having the natural energy and vitality, and quick recovery from physically being young. And I miss the notion of having more time in front of me, even though I would probably still squander it, anyway.
All the other dumb shit that comes with being young, you can keep all of that. Don't want it.

Now I'm employed at a dead end job and I hate it. I've also gained 95 lbs so I look even worse than I did before. I miss having free time and sleeping all day.

>I'm 26 and I miss being in my late teens to early twenties because I was a NEET who stayed home and watched YouTube videos and anime and got high all day
This was my life from like ages 15-19, except replace anime with playing vidya and beating off to porn. I did get a job at 18 though, and worked for a year.
>I've also gained 95 lbs so I look even worse than I did before.
Yeah, I was 182 lbs at 6'4" in highschool at 16 years old. Then at 19, I was even thinner at 160 lbs. I'm 24 now (going to be 25 in less than a month), and I'm 221 lbs now. I'm 39 lbs heavier than I was in highschool.

Man, I just hate how time flies by so fast. Ever since I graduated highschool time just went into overdrive.
I guess my only advice to OP is to just do your best to build a good future.

There are likeable and unlikable parts to it. Not being able to drink every single day is a blessing. Not getting spontaneous boners every hour is a blessing. Not getting angry about people in traffic is much better then how it is when you're young

Y'know I thought I missed my childhood & teen hood, but realized I'm able to do more as an adult.
Kids didn't want to be my friend, and things were scaring my parents outside, so I wasn't allowed as much.
As a teen, same problem: no friends. And then my porn addiction happened.

As an adult, I'm able to talk to more people, even have a few acquaintances. I go outside when I want, and learned how to control my addiction.

Also 'missing our youth' is coping. Dry your tears, and try again tomorrow, you got this.

I think about my teenage years often, and often wish I had done things differently in high school. I had friends but preferred to stay home watching anime, playing vydia, or masturbating, I also lost the high school opportunity to get the gf milestone. Overall I wish I had gone out more, practiced an instrument, or learned to draw, but just to have done something. Looking at it from a more positive angle, I believe I am somewhat young still, (22), but time is moving so fast, and every day is similar. I also took 4 as a semi-neet, working on short periods, I was afraid of entering the workforce but I realized the life of doing nothing, watching media, and not having goals is kind of having a lobotomy, you feel comfortable in it because you eventually feel nothing at all.

I think a lot of people just give up at like 40 and just become fat and boring and they reminisce about that time they finger banged Martha Rottencrotch behind the playground. Yeah being young is great because you don't have health issues and you have a large social circle but it's often just laziness that makes you a sad boomer, not objective issues

Their youth is gone and the best years are behind them. Their women are withering away, many of whom never even blossomed into motherhood. They have no assets or stake in the economy. They have no social standing and mostly stand alone.
Like an old work animal whose time has come and needs to be put down, like a stray dog who overstayed it's welcome, like an old man who understands so well the point where oblivion takes you forever, it's over for millennials they are finished.

all the numbers show us that your generation is the most forgotten generation since the Great Depression. No sex, no property, no joy, and now that you're reaching your mid 20's you lash out at those who got to enjoy the final gasps of civilization. I really hope you get a war or something. Not because I want you to die, but because it's the last chance you have to become a self-actualized man in a dead world. Without that, or some equally drastic black swan event, you'll remain the child you are now and that's really sad.

Sometimes. For a brief period of time, usually when I am trying to figure out a life transition.
If you are feeling regret over the past over missed opportunities, it is because you are missing something that needs to change in your life right now.
The past doesn't exist outside your memories which becomes corrupted and warped over time.
But let's say you could transfer your 40 year old mind into your life from 20 years ago.
And you can't take your future knowledge with you ie durr hurr I'm going to mine Bitcoin and become a billionaire.
Life would actually be quite hellish being stuck in a younger version of your life doing things you have already done.
It would be nice for a day or two, but nostalgia is mostly BS.

"old" is a state of mind. i've met young 70 year olds, and decrepit 40 year olds. your open-mindedness, willingness to change, quick adaptability, are all young traits. if you're stuck in your ways and unwilling to learn, you'll forever be old.

it's all relative to ones individual developmental traumas if you got ransacked by loneliness as many people are then you'll naturally yearn for the kind of subdued youthful romance whose absence and deprivation harangued you for all those years. it's not relative to whether you experienced that but rather to your subjectively held feelings about it regardless of having technically experienced it... some people it's poverty that upsets them, others were poor as fuck but happy because they had a sense of community... some people get traumatized by work but others find it elevating because they had a sense of accomplishment from the work... all sorts of people work but only some find it fulfilling... it all depends on your innate socialization in your earliest years, your relation to your parents, friends and other family...

in general, experience is only the light that runs through the prism of your personality, if that prism is damaged or made imperfect in some way, then the experiences passing through it will be similarly disfigured.

Sometimes I think it would be nice to go back in time, just for a single day. Back when "responsibility" wasn't in my vocabulary and had nothing other to worry about than if I'd be home in time for the simpsons. Back when it was easy to get excited over the simplest things and have no concept of what might happen next week. For me that was also a time before the internet, around 98'.
