I work in Big Tech and I suspect that's what they're referring too. We have offices in San Fran, Seattle, and New York. Most of our incoming devs are from a small pool of top-tier universities, mostly public ivies like Virginia Tech or U Mich, and they almost all studied either CS or engineering
