Do girls reply to you more if you have a gf?

Me and my friend both try to organise small social stuff but girls rarely respond to me but they respond to my friend as I suspect its because he already has a gf so its more obviously platonic.

I used to get approached by girls when i was dating or had a gf. For some reason girls just sense something in you when that's the case. Maybe guys seem more approachable because a relationship makes them more feminine or gives them a more positive attitude unbeknownst to themselves.

When a woman loves you and vice versa, your brain chemistry changes, and your hormones change. They can probably smell your pheromones or some shit. I've noticed the same phenomenon. Never had so much female interest as when I was in a long-term relationship.

I wear my wedding ring around my neck, and it gets girls asking about it. They do seem more open to talking to you if they know you're taken

It's not some pheromone bullshit. Get the fuck out of here.

It's simply social proof. That guy has a girlfriend > he must be decent enough > more women are attracted to him

Yes.
It's called mate poaching.
Girls use the selections of other girls as a vetting process.
If she likes you than you must be doing something right and that works in fembrain.

I don't think the phenomenon of girls showing more interest in taken guys is about being 'platonic' at all. It's about women being generally incapable of deciding what they want on their own: if someone's taken, someone else has decided he's valuable, therefore he is.
