An example: they insist on using blunt knives in the kitchen. Every time I visit and handle a knife I say "why don't you sharpen the knives?" and they answer that sharp knives are dangerous. I tried to explain that sharp knives are safe cause they actually cut, "but that one time (years ago) you cut your finger". I have stopped. I offered to sharpen them a couple times and they were NO NO NO BAD NO.
ANYTHING I say or do is met like this. This grating attitude is just a constant. It doesn't matter how right I am, they don't care. My brother knows I can assemble a computer but if I try to troubleshoot his desktop he acts like I'm a toddler trying to break it.
I don't think any of them even remember anything I say. What does it mean when your family members do this? Sometimes I'm in the middle of saying something and they interrupt talking to someone else about a completely different subject. It's not just disagreement, it's like I am something else to them like a talking monkey. It feels like a weird hazing ritual.
ONLY my family members do this, and have always done this from my childhood. I am the youngest in the family. I am not diagnosed with autism or other mental illness that would make them write me off as a retard. I grew up with massive self-esteem issues because of this.
I hate seeing them. I am exhausted and I feel terrible every single time I interact with them because they inevitably do this and I am never prepared. Am I wrong and this annoying as shit family dynamic is actually normal? Does it have a name? Is it my fault if my family acts like this? Is it possible that I am imagining everything? Why the fuck does this happen? How do I fix it? Family dinners are like getting my teeth pulled.

The word is overprotective.
Why? Ask them.
You are getting fed up? Tell them.

Family tends to have a favourite/cool/disliked/ignored child.
You are that one kid who gets ignored for not being worthy to talk to. That is my guess.

I feel sorry for your situation though xd.
And no its not your fault, its just human nature.
