I was a dumbass and graduated with a stupid degree that I now realize won’t get me anywhere

What sectors of tech are still viable? Ive heard of horror stories of CS graduates finding absolutely no employment and constantly getting laid off

Should i even bother it technology isn’t my passion? I barely use github outside of stable diffusion. Im not tech literate at all, but my strong suits are math and science. Is there ANY hope for me in CS?

OK then no, because you're not "competing." You fucked yourself. You are a quadraplegic trying to get into the Olympics for hundred meter dash. You need to give up on a path in life you've already closed off.

Nah. Unless you freelance or have proof of employment with a turbo normie LinkedIn, employers won't look at you.

It's not really the skills but "who you know" bullshit which really just nepotism. Unless you're willing to asslick smelly nerds with anti socialntendencies and sociopathic turbo normies with an tech influencer brand or some dumbass trust fund kid with a start up then you're out of luck.

Most i've ever coded was a simple 3D line curve length calculator that brute-forced integrals and a DNA to Protein chain translator. I really wish I would have gotten into CS at an earlier age but it seems to late now. I would be competing with jeets and autsits who've coded since they were 10.

I work in cyber security and nope, you have no chance as a straight white male. Too many Indians trying to get in. Pakis too.

Why don't you do a job society actually needs? Like welding or plumbing?

Yes, indians only ruin things. Pajeets have been a disaster for the human race. Tho, I can't promise white people are allowed in the workplace, before everything has turned to shit, so Timmy, Max and Kevin can build everything up again.

Do you have projects? That's probably your best bet at this point or if you can somehow land an intership even after graduating.

I think what the tech industry really needs right now is more people who don't actually give a fuck about the quality of their work and just see it as an easy paycheck and the management who is equally tech defunct and can't tell you from a good developer.

I'd still take you over an Indian though. Not by much...

What the tech industry needs is a nuke being dropped on India. In fact this will not only help the tech industry, but everyone else, because it will stop 99% of worldwide scams, including in education and workplaces.

It is not the Indians. It is that for at least 20 years every single college student in America has majored in CS and there simply aren't that many jobs.

Pre covid, absolutely.
Post covid, you're dealing with both the unfortunate stereotypes that your peers have solicited (lazy and unsocial neets who run to AI first chance they get; not saying that's true for everyone but that seems to be the impression management is approaching current gen z grads with) and infinite jeets who will spend an obsessive amount of time leetcoding and linkedin-maxxing. If you're willing to take a significant pay cut to start small or work on your projects/portfolio rapidly, then you may have a chance. Otherwise, you're screwed.
>>33330839
This is also very true, my biggest hurdle was getting the first job but connecting with people on linkedin, interacting with people at work beyond just talking code, and not being a sperg in general has gotten me much further than any amount of technical talent desu. Doubly so since I'm an American born talent (not exactly a stamp of quality but a lot of clients in Europe and South America seem to prefer that to the Indian coders; maybe due to the US being less of a cultural clash?)

Look up startup incubators. Look at all the companies they’re launching. Often, you can get in on the ground floor. Then it’s only a numbers game

>Age?
I'm currently 27. I graduated in 2019 and I had a Math major/CS minor degree from a good university (I know school rankings aren't the end all, be all but usnews has my school in the top 25 typically). I took courses via my cs minor that definitely got me up to speed on how to code and just started making whatever bullshit I wanted (sports trackers to update my own personal mvp leaderboard automatically; dumb app ideas; insta and twitter clones for specific hobbies and niches). Didn't have a job offer at the time of graduating, took me 3 months post graduation for a job posting on Indeed to respond back to me and hire me (I had a few interviews before that but I bombed a couple and got ghosted from the rest that seemed good). Probably would have been much easier if I had an internship desu. Good luck everyone, this shit ain't easy for the next gen.
