Why are people so obsessed with Japan? As someone who lived there for a bit (father was in the military), I can safely say it's pretty hostile for foreigners. You can get some novelty attention from being a foreigner, but that will only get you so far. Just like anywhere, most women are generally wary of being fucked and dumped, so if you just go as a tourist your prospects are honestly quite dim compared to staying there longer term where women would actually see potential for a relationship. And if you go after the very hot ones, bear in mind you're competing with the chad fraction of Japanese men who will be handsome, dressed well, and making her laugh while you're barely stringing together whatever the fuck you learned on duolingo, and wearing whatever the fuck you could fit in your suitcase. The vast majority of women will not seriously consider dating you if your Japanese is shit, language is a major hurdle. I know this all sounds negative but honestly a lot of you sexpats need a reality check. To get anywhere you need to be either very good looking, very lucky, or living there at least medium term and willing to learn the language.

I visited a Japanese friend that went to college w/ me in the US last summer.
I don't get the appeal of Eastern Asian women to White men at all. A mid east asian is way worse than any mid white girl I grew up with in the midwest. Getting a job as a foreigner is incredibly difficult. Also, foreigners only have access to like 10% of properties in Japan. Landlords have to get a special license to house them. Plus, if you don't know the language you are kinda screwed if you are outside of Tokyo.

I'd say that japan's dating market is one of the highest difficulty.
There's a reason they don't have many kids out here.
Women are being forced into a working culture that traps them for >50 hours a week when they are young.
So just statistically the rate at which you meet young people in your daily life is much lower than many other countries.

Paired with the fact that society is layered in a hierarchical system, were older = more money and success, yet, women as a whole find younger traits more attractive then older ones.
This means that women as a whole tend to favor successful young people for dating. (for sugar daddy is something else)

SO, men are screwed over, young women are seeking the perfect partner, and then once they are tired of working (at around 25-28) they settle down with the first person they find decent and sexless marriages will be rampant, cheating will be rampant.

Yeah but anime characters look nothing like real Japanese woman. If anything they look more white. But the main thing is that it all boils down to perspective and personal preference.
