Has anyone else had an experience with an overbearing mother?

>fight tooth and nail so I can move out
>I have always had a job and could totally afford it
>finally got her to let up and I've been living in an apartment
>now I'm 27 and she still controls some of my finances and will not let me have access to parts of my money

>demands that I visit every week and shamelessly guilt trips me when I don't
I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm way behind on being a man because my mom keeps suffocating me.

Huh. My childhood was the exact opposite. I had rules, but no supervision because my parents were burnt out on children by the time I was born.

Have you tried explaining how you feel to her? And how does she control your finances when you don't live with her? I'd suggest getting your own bank account and don't give her access, you're 27, she can't force you to do anything. I don't understand how she gets your money especially when you don't want her having it. And try explaining to her that the once a week visits are getting to be too much, try to find some middle ground while still respecting your mother's wants

She just wants you to take care of her while your older brother gets to do whatever he wants.

My mom has said all the worst possible things that a mother can say to her son

She used to beat my brother and me (hes mentally fucked up too) and when we got bigger than her she just amped up the verbal.abuse. my brother and I are both horrible alcoholics because we have terrible emotional control and self esteem. Now she probably cries herself to sleep alone in her house.
