I use so much time on this site every single day. It's easily the thing I do most, but I have so many other things I want to do instead and my usage of this website takes time aaway from everything else.

How long have you been using 4chan?

Not that long. I've been a loner my whole life and the idea of using a forum-like place on the internet was a thing outside my comfort zone.
If pushed to say, maybe 6 or 7 years?
I know this makes me a newfag, but I'd prefer to be honest.

I was gonna say that I was completely addicted when I first started but it seems you have been here a fair amount of time. What did it for me is the fact that barely anyone responds to my posts and it's just the same shit everyday. Nothing ever happens. 4chan is good for quick conversation and niche information so it isn't the worst thing to be addicted to.

If you're addicted to it, you get "something" from it, something that you may not get from real life. Are you lonely, bored, avoidant maybe? There is a large variety of other things that you could do instead of browsing this site, so, why do you keep coming?

I might be all of those things.

I think because it's easier than a lot of the other things I want to do. Playing video games, consuming anime and film (or even something as small as a youtube video), reading a wikipedia page or completing a task I've assigned myself; these things take time to complete and require enough concentration that I can't do them all at once or instantly and I think this website is addicting precisely because there's no requirement that I 'complete' anything and I don't particularly need to concentrate on one thing when reading a 4chan post.

I take time to reply to posts other people make and when writing the previous post I had several other posts in other threads I was also in the middle of writing. That probably also makes it worse since I've progressed from just lurking to writing a lot more.
