You care more about the age gap than the relationship. My parents were 11 years apart in age. Literally the only downside is that whoever's younger is staying widowed a few years, or many if some unlucky disease happens.

Stage of life has had less to do with chronological age in recent generations than ever before, there are tons of 50 year old children and 15 year old adults running around, so for some crazy ass reason there's a hyper intense propaganda push that the only thing that matters in relationships now is chronological age. Similar mindset and intelligence level as astrology but somehow even more insane and less likely to work IRL.
If you're at same / similar / close enough stages of life and you get along, you'll do great. If you're identical ages born on the same day but are at different stages of life or are otherwise incompatible, the identical age will not help or fix anything. People IRL who want to tease you or get under your skin might use it as a weapon if they know you're weak to it. Might use it as some kind of shit test against you to see if the can intimidate you IRL. I suppose bullies tease people about worse things, maybe if this is the topic its better than most. If you're not the type to accept being bullied, then it doesn't matter, and its probably easier to ignore than bullying behavior about other topics.
If people have to be told about your problem to know it exists, it stands to reason they probably don't know or care until you tell them you feel it's a problem, at which point they're going to treat it like you have a problem.
