Talking to this girl I'm dating. She just gossipped to me about some tiktok star or whatever, she got pregnant. Apparently that's significant because for a few years she was lesbian, and then queer, and non-binary, and now she's dating a straight guy and got pregnant. I said "yeah, that happens. Are her gay followers devastated or something?" "No, she's a walking meme." And I realized just how much I can't connect with her on this, and other people, who gossip about others.

It's not that I think this sort of talk is beneath me, no. It's not that. It's that people change their minds. Is she not allowed to change her mind? She's pregnant, awesome for her. Hope she has a healthy birth. I can't get behind gossip because people make mistakes and people change. It's what people do. I don't think it's particularly worth talking about. But the vast majority of conversations ARE people talking about other people like this. It's not tiring, it's just that the answer, for me, is always the same. Yeah, that happens. People change.
