I worked one of those "14 hour a day" jobs you hear about and then I did that, I had basically no free time. No time to myself. It was 14 hours at work, then limp home because your body was not built to withstand that kind of torture. Then if you want to be a halfway decent dad, you will teach and talk to the kids.

I got out of that violation of human-rights and ended up with a job with less hours but even with an 8 hour work shift, you feel like a slave.

I myself am a little disappointed that I was gaslit so much in life into thinking marriage and family would make me happy in the same way that living hedonistically for myself would, it definitely doesn't, but it gives me a different type of spiritual satisfaction instead, and it's the hardest thing I've done. I don't take any advice from unmarried, childless "men" any more, feels good.

It literally does. On every metric, hedonism is better. Humans evolved from living on scraps. Making problems for ourselves feels better in the same way rolling a rock uphill does- you're gaining muscle by lifting a heavy object and setting it down again without asking yourself if it's necessary
