I don't normally bother with probiotics, but I've just finished a course of antibiotics and my gut bacteria could do with some backup.
Does anyone have any (if possible, actually medically qualified) advice about which bacterial strains I should be looking for in a probiotic? Or do you even have a specific preferred brand?
raw milk, buttermilk (non pasteurisized, non homo) good
raw yoghurt, NO sugar or any other sweeteners (tastes like ass) healthy
raw quark, NO sugar or any other sweeteners (tastes like ass x2) healthy
actual original kefir from russia, tastes like ass x3 very healthy (actual life prolonging)
you can add a SMALL teaspoon of RAW organic honey to the yoghurt/quark.
AND all of this in glass bottles, no plastic, non-gmo.

>>33342021Well, thank you, but I asked for advice about pro-biotics, not pre-biotics. And I'm lactose intolerant. I was thinking of something in pill/capsule form. What I need is someone to tell me if there are any particular bacterial strains I should be focusing on - B. Bifidum vs L. Acidophilus, etc.
>>33340968 (OP)If you're gonna do pills look into bifidobacterium lactis, lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, and saccharomyces boulardii. Lactobacillus acidophilus may cause constipation.
>>33340968 (OP)It's all bullshit for neurotic hypochondriac women.
Eat fiber, get some exercise, and if you have gas/IBS problems go FODMAP. That's it.
>>33340968 (OP)It's most likely all a waste. The usual are lacticaseibacillus casei shirota, bifidobacterium animalis and kefir. I tried kefir until I go stomach cramps. I tried the probiotic pills, but noticed nothing at all. Unless you have digestion issues after a weeks of stopping antibiotics then don't bother.
>>33344047Are you suggesting that antibiotics don't damage your gut bacteria?
