I wasted my years at university, and am now about to leave it emptyhanded.
I feel so damn miserable over my own stupidity, and just don't know what to do. I have nobody else to blame for all of this but myself, and it hurts.
What should I do now that I wasted years of my life? Should I just try finding a job? Should I get another degree, since it's free in my country? The answer to both is probably a yes, but I'm feeling extremely depressed regardless.

The answer is indeed yes. However you should look at why you failed before making the same mistake again.

The only reason I failed is because of procrastinating on my thesis. I could have worked on it ages ago, but I always came up with excuses to not work on it. I became hyperfixated on many things that took my attention away. Inherently, I feel that the reason why I procrastinated was partially fear of being judged and partially not wanting to feel uncomfortable / stressed. I have extremely poor skills at making myself do things, don't know what you call it in English. If I could have grabbed myself by the hair, I wouldn't be in this mess.
I had some dreams, but now I feel like they have passed me.

University may not be for you. NOTE that I am NOT saying you're not good enough for it. It might not be good enough for you.

Universities are designed to serve two types of customer - those entering the surprisingly few professions that actually require a degree, and those who just enjoy learning things. For anyone else they may be the wrong path to the wrong end.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Does that really require a degree?

Try to not see this as a complete waste of time. You learned valuable experience and learned things about yourself, that I'm sure.
The first thing you must do is to get a job, earn your own money and live your life independently, then if you want to try again you can decide later.

I wanted to be a researcher, and that does, unfortunately require a degree. I felt like university was the place for me, but I honestly often thought that I might have had the wrong course, even if I enjoyed studying. I am not good at working on my own, and I feel like there needs to be someone forcing me to work for me to actually do things on time, because my attention just gets diverted so easily.

I don't think it was a complete waste of time. I made friends, and I enjoyed my time there. I learned about many interesting things. I do indeed need to find a job now, but I honestly kind of feel like a loser, especially since many others I knew have managed to find a job somewhat relating to their field.

Get a gym membership and start building some muscles.
No I really mean it. We as humans tend to overcomplicate simple stuff. We overthink our problems way too much while other people's problems look so easy to solve. Try to apply the same thought to your own life.
Most of your problems are not as big as you believe, and they are easier to solve than you think.

Get in the habit of getting things done right away. Precrastinate.

I was in the same situation.
Chatgpt helped me with structure (not content). Make fixed appointments with your supervisor. Perhaps there are groups at uni where people come together for this very purpose. Its probably all way easier than you think it is and the examiners are more lenient than u expect.

>not wanting to feel uncomfortable / stressed
no offense but that is like spitting in the face of every single person it took to eventually make you, because they had to be stressed and uncomfortable whether they liked it or not. 99% of people who fail out of uni it's because they just didn't do what they were supposed to. come on anon you know better than that.

You know who else flunked out of university?
Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs.
Universities have lost most of their credibility nowadays anyway because of the woke shit.
You're probably better off just getting a trade.
People in the trades make a killing nowadays.

Yeah, you are absolutely right about that, and it's something I seriously need to fix. Comfort-seeking is a habit that I need to get rid of.

Thanks for the tip, anon. I already messaged the university and applied for one extra semester to submit my thesis. It's pretty much the only thing I need to do to get out my papers, and I'll be sure to make use of it. I'll even contact my old supervisor and see what he thinks.

>>33343132
Thanks, I will make this my new act. I will tackle problems as soon as possible, the moment I hear of them.

>>33343124
I definitely need to do this, and didn't think about it.

Find Job, get good at it, university taught you to write, write well, then read scriptures, write to figure out the purpose you want to set in life then plan, then pray, then take action, anon. Love you, use your talents God gave you for His glory
