Depending on your jurisdiction you could have problems with loitering laws and there's always the issue of getting robbed in the middle of the night. Otherwise you could probably manage showers by getting a gym membership, laundry by using a laundromat but food will likely be your biggest problem in terms of not having any permanent storage as well as bills from having to eat out.
>How shitty is it to live in your car for like a year?
Extremely. Most people that do this usually convert a van into a "RV" of sorts precisely because your average car is not built to be a home. I don't think you'll last a year of doing this.

I lived in a parking lot in a trailer in Milan Italy for 1y.
I had a full time job but I wasn't saving anything because of rent so I got a 500€ trailer and lived in that for 1y winter including.
The parking lot was private and I use to pay the owner 100€ a month.
I was visited by every police department, fire and so on...
Hokers came at nigh with clients had a bear bottle hit the camper one night and some kid's tried to set it on fire but I heard it and kicked their ass.
It's worse these days would not recommend.

The main problem you'll run into is yourself and the people around you also living in cars.
There's uncountable programs to get you in a shelter or something but you can't be fighting people or getting high so they kick those out.
That means either you're a problem and/or you're surrounded by other kicked out people who are a huge problem.
Its not the living in a car thats the problem as much as the you and everyone around you is high/drunk all the time getting into trouble "while living in a car".
Similar to living in the "poor part of town" the problem isn't the lack of money that is usually OK, the problem is living with the kind of people who don't have money.
Your neighbors will be your worst nightmare times a million.

I lived in a van for a little over a year. I bought it for $1,500 and turned it into a camper for another $800. I didn’t do much to it just insulated the inside, put up some wooden boards, added a small gas heater, a gas stove, and built myself a little bed. For showers, I got a Planet Fitness membership. Later on, I built a spot to store my stuff. After about a month, I got used to it. From the outside, though, you’d never guess someone was living in there.

To add mine looked much like this but had all windows blacked out so you couldn't see inside so police and people wouldn't know someone was inside.

Had a friend that had a decent job but decided to live in a Jeep instead of paying the retarded cost of living. He saved up almost $200k.
