Someone else has their own reasons for rejecting you and it doesn't necessarily define your own worth. Some companies do this bullshit for their own purposes, sometimes they aren't even looking to hire.

Literal fucking down's syndromes and brain damaged people work at shitmart, man. I guarantee your rejection had nothing to do with your qualifications. If anything, you may have been overqualified, and yes that's a thing.

If a job can be done by a homeless junkie, they will hire exactly a homeless junkie because he will never walk away, ask for promotion or best pay, benefits, security equipment, and will follow orders blindly.
That's life. If you have no special skill, you are doomed. Market rules, it's called capitalism.
You are young and have a strong hand, or will have, so learn a trade.
Crafting things could be enjoyable, best than neeting. Some day, you'll hold a hammer and feel that you can singlehit anyone, and feels good.
Good luck anon.

It's not a failure. Failure implies attempting a type of work, or task, and failing at it. You cannot fail an interview because you aren't doing work, you are being interviewed to be accepted into the work. So how could you have failed if you didn't even get the work in order to fail? You didn't fail. You simply did not get the job, that's all.

Why? Loads of reasons. But the biggest reason most jobs pass on you at an interview is because of reasons that don't even have anything to do with you, at all.

9/10 times it's because someone else interviewed showed up and had more experience at the type of work than you did. Doesn't matter if you had an amazing interview, doesn't matter if the interviewers liked you as a person. What matters is money. And they always pick who they feel is the most qualified or suitable for the specific job role.

Doesn't mean you suck or failed. It means the job interviewers made a choice that wasn't (you). And it may not even be the best choice for them who knows.

I interviewed for a job, had an amazing interview, got a long great with the managers. Even gave me a trial day of work to see how I like it. I performed well and had a blast. In the end I didn't get the job. Why? Some woman showed up, she used to manage the exact same kind of store. They picked her. Didn't work out too well for them in the end as she eventually caused drama and had mental issues.

YOU did not fail. Someone else scored better than you.

Hiring is a matter of picking the best among those who apply. If next time you are better than the others, you will get the job.

By growing up. It happens to loads of people all the time.
If you're going for a skilled or specialised position, there's probably going to be a high barrier of entry. Which will present its own set of obstacles. If you're going for a minimum wage job, then you and almost everyone else in the general population can do the job, as well. Which means you easily blend in with the 100+ other applicants going for the same position.
Just don't take it personally. Because I assure you, they aren't.

They did you a favor.
Retail is a braindead industry from mid to low level managers simply have no idea what they are doing and take their industry way too seriously. It's an industry for people who have never done any better and never will.

Understand that it's not that you weren't good enough, it is simply that there was only one job available and they liked one of the other applicants better. There is an always an element of luck with job applications: it's not just about whether you can do the job, it's also about who else is applying. Sooner or later you get lucky and there isn't better going for the same job; you need to keep going till that happens. It gets much easier once you have some experience under your belt; some employers are wary of first-timers.

It's humiliating to apply to a job you don't really want and get rejected anyway. I know. But you can get one. Took me a long time but I did it. For generic job hunting advice, there's plenty of sites on the internet.

this.
we have 2 PHDs (chemistry) working as associates and none of the department managers have any college as far as I know.
seems that obedient less thoughtful people do better in retail.

No biggie anon, even as someone such as myself that's gotten jobs among stiff competition I've striked out occasionally. Practice going to job interviews, what I do immediately is build rapport with the interviewer before the questions begin and another tip is to ask THEM about the company and their background, once I started treating job interviews as if I'm the one who's interviewing them as a potential employer my success rate dramatically improved.

Every failure you'll learn what you said or did to get you rejected, it's apart of the process.

I'm a turbo autist but I've learned how to make myself very likeable among employers, even showing you might be a little cocky too actually helps.
