So I just finished my first coding class and get the gist of Java basics. But not sure where do I go from here. Should I just get a data & algos book? or maybe a book on learning about java's libraries? I'd like one with exercises in them to practice coding

Oh sweet baby jesus good luck.

Nigga, pick a personal project, and COMPLETE IT. You have no idea the work needed to get any tiny app up and functioning and independent of the IDE.

You are baby.

Why Java? A programming language is a tool, soI'd be thinking about the end goal first. If I wanted to work in data science I would learn Python.and R. Controllers? C and TCL. Web development? Javascript/Node, frameworks. And so on.

it's mainly just the language i chose to learn coding concepts. i didnt necessarily have an end goal in mind when i started. i can easily learn another language now that i have an idea what i need to look for when i start coding in a different language.

don't listen to the nojobbers. java is a language like any other. anyway do a small project. pick the smallest project you can find and complete it. if you think it's too easy then you got yourself a doable challenge.

don't bother with too much theory unless you're in college and you have to pass an exam or you're actually interested in that kind of stuff which you obviously aren't.
