I won't read threads that leave out the most important piece of information: Are you intending to do this or have you already done it?

A normal office job that values higher education as a sign of diligence commitment and ability to obtain a degree.

Which is most jobs that would have hired a highschool graduate but may think to give you a try for a crappy wage.

Or philosophy professor. Maybe you can self publish a book or have a monetized short form media channel.

You either become a professor or you write philosophy books.
Or both.

Management consulting, sales, product management, customer success, government policy, journalist, lawyer (with a law conversion ofc), lecturer, recruitment, sometimes logistics
There's a lot of jobs out there which don't care what degree you've got, just that you've got a degree.
People on this website are often very into STEM so when they think of careers they want to get into they think of STEM careers. And then they think "a philosophy degree would NEVER get anyone into a STEM career!" and totally forget that STEM is just one single corner of the job market.

This.
I got an 80k a year management job with an arts degree 15 years ago.
The fact you completed university at all communicates a set of skills that can be very alluring for the right employer.

Thinking otherwise is just the result of mass propaganda campaigns to devalue intellectualism so retarded drop outs think theyre smarter than everyone else. Then you can just tell them the fact they hate fags is because theyre actually geniuses and they'll drag their smoke filled assholes to the polls and vote for tax cuts to billionaires.

People act like you have to go into a field related to your degree. But that's nonsense. You can become a manager at a nuclear powerplant right out of university with a philosophy degree.
I think part of it is that people just sort of enjoy the idea that frou-frou ivory tower elitist philosophy graduates get dragged back to "the real world" and end up getting shit jobs "like the rest of us".

Realistically there's as many answers as there are people and Im embellishing based on the caricature in my head of people i do not like.

But there is definitely a disdain for education and intellectualism in general thats being politically weaponized. And le "liberal arts and gender studies" point is pushed pretty hard to ensure these people ridicule the idea of higher education.

Then you demonize the people who have actual literacy and critical thinking skills and they think they dont have to listen to the smarts when they say things like "China doesn't pay the tariffs, you do."

People like that are always vilifying something that they can exploit politically and one of the current favorite topics is intellectuals and college degrees. But I do think that the job market has been saturated with people who have graduated from college recently.

I would benefit from having less competition in my field of software development, but I also think that the number of college graduates and the degrees offered has gotten a bit out of balance.
