I'm 23, and I've just taken a new job that requires constant travel and long hours. The pay is great (~120k/year just starting out) and the job itself is pretty easy, but I'd like to have a chance at a social life but I just don't know how.

To get into specifics, I will likely have to pack up and move about an hour away every 1-3 months, and will have to move cross country every 6 months to 1 year. Additionally, I work an average of 60 hours per week, but hours can vary significantly and it's never consistent (could be working 30 hours a week or 84, it just depends).

I'm already kind of a loner by nature, and don't have a lot of experience with women either, but I'd like to have friends and a family some day. I know that if I continue to wait things will just get harder for both dating and making friends.

Any advice on what I can do here? What are some things you guys would recommend for me?

Why do you want a gf with a demanding job?

I worded the title wrong. What I meant was "finding a gf while I have a demanding job"

Go hang out in bars or go to events with lots of people at whatever city you’re in at the moment. Despite what 4chan says you can figure something out with a stable gf. My friend lived in missouri and met a girlfriend in california, did long distance awhile and got married.

If you want to look it up, it would probably be listed as "Long-Haul Fiber Optic OSP Inspector/Engineer". Different places call it different things but that should put you in the right direction.

How far are you moving around each time? Like across the country? Or just within a region? If it's the former, you're probably not gonna make too many strong bonds unless you're able to bounce back to locations. In that case, I'd just focus on saving money and getting yourself promoted or upgraded to a more stable job. You can have some flings in the mean time or fuck around on eros.

It depends. Like I said in the post I'll probably be moving within a region every month to three months, whereas I may move across the country every six months to a year.

To get into specifics about my job, I'm basically working with a crew on a line of fiber optic cable from Cleveland to Chicago right now. As the crew works I have to move every so often to keep my commute down, as I only get paid by my company to drive up to 50 miles per day.

Honestly, you can work 60 hours a week, OR you can have a girlfriend. Pick one.
