i use reddit mostly for trade-related subs and a few niche hobby subs but i also like to shitpost and express myself honestly so i'm on a 7 day ban right now. you cannot do anything but read the site when you are on a ban.

in one of my trade subs there's a stereotypical leftist redditor having an issue with a piece of home equipment. it is believed to be broken and is going to be replaced this coming week for $6000. he's asking if there's any way to fix it before he has to spend that money. apparently its a lot for them.

the equipment is a first generation model number with a known flaw that the manufacturer has kept hushed. there are maybe a handful of professionals in the country who have that insider info and i'm one of them because i'm very close with my trade rep and he told me how to fix it for one of my clients last year.

i have the knowledge to help him fix it for less than $200. i could use an alt account to contact him. all he needs is one part with a design flaw replaced.

part of me doesn't want to because there's something really ironically funny about his favorite site's rules costing him this much money

am i being a bad person? should i help him?
