I got fired for a first episode psychosis of, at the time undiagnosed schizophrenia, and now I can't get a job ( I've applied pretty much everywhere) (too much time has passed to pursue any legal avenue regarding wrongful termination)

they took away my license on account of my condition and I don't see myself ever driving again much less being able to convince the government to give me the chance

inb4 apply for neetbux, my medication works and therefore I don't really deserve it plus it seems too complicated from what I could gather

basically is there anyone else here with schizophrenia who's gone through a similar experience or anyone who could muster up some note worthy observation

1. Just because it’s working now doesn’t mean it will forever. I’m normally pretty conservative about recommending welfare, but early symptoms of schizophrenia is one of the ideal cases. Get on whatever you can for that and healthcare ASAP, like tomorrow since you don’t have a job, as if it does get worse, it’ll only get harder to get approved from here.

2. Focus on meaningful relationships if possible. People you can trust to tell you real from fake or keep you accountable or grounded, ideally people irl.

3. Study if you can, build yourself up to be valuable regardless of your condition. Apply for any government gibs and scholarships to make it happen, FAFSA and loans when they rest don’t cover it. Again, if your meds are working now, use this time now to build something for yourself incase it doesn’t last. Getting a white collar job doable from home would probably help a lot with this.

Operate outside of the system, I guess. There's no structural support for economically non-viable individuals. It's just "inefficient."

Inability to do the job, even for medical reasons, is legitimate cause for firing. ADA type laws only protect those able to do the job

Schizoid means "schizo like" and you are not schizo like, you are schizo. Also which state do you live in where they revoke your license for having schizophrenia?
