So I have a date and she's really cute so I'm really looking forward to it and there's something about this making me think she could be the one. She's quite nerdy like me and sort of direct at communicating as well so I think personality wise we could definitely get on well.

The only problem i can think of is if she asks about my relationship history. I'm 26 and I've never had an official long term gf relationship. I've had 3 girls who I've dated for more than 2 weeks and could've been more long term but: the first one I wanted to keep my options open by not committing, the 2nd one I was too shy to meet her friends and the last one she ended because we were sexually incompatible (she didn't say this was the problem but it seemed like the biggest problem to me). So what do I tell my date if she asks about my dating history? Should I lie? Wish I was born in 1960 so I could lie and say I had 2 long term gfs but obviously living in this time I can't really lie because there'd be proof

It's a first date, just keep it vague. Less history, more mystery.

Also, even if she could end up being the one, you shouldn't be telling yourself that before a first date. You may end up shooting yourself in the foot.

Oh I know from experience the most likely outcome is I won't hear from her after this date so I won't get my hopes up.

I kinda suck at keeping things vague. When I've tried to do that before on a date she just kept asking about what I was trying to be vague about

I'm going to be honest with you. You are extremely lonely and you're sitting yourself up for failure. Thinking like this before your first date is absolutely ridiculous.

" For the most part it's been pleasant-but-not-too-serious friendships. There have been a few that might have gone someplace but either she or I just wasn't ready."

Good call. Why risk success when you can guarantee failure?

Agreed. Change this mindset in a hurry, or else.

Sure. Why run the risk of happiness when you can guarantee unhappiness by not even trying?
