I always wanted to create fictional works.
However, I've never been sure which medium I should work in.
My desired path has always been animated film but that's pretty much impossible as a solo artist without compromising quality of the art/ or slowing down production for 5+ years for just a few minutes of film. I don't have the resources to hire personnel either.
So, I have thought of downgrading the scope of the project to just a comic book or a video game.
>comic book
>My perceived Pros: Doesn't require as much interdisciplinary skills
>My perceived Cons: Requires a bunch of filler content I may not be willing to make to pad the length of the content
>No music/sfx to enhance experience
>Requires better writing skills to make engaging
>The already relatively small audience of this medium is mostly focused on Evergreen and Triple A Intellectual Properties, meaning that the potential audience size for an indie project is too low.
>video games
>Pros: Larger potential audience
>More immersive experience for those who are illiterate
>Doesn't require incredibly good animation or art to be valued
>Doesn't require out of the ball park writing
>Music/sfx can be added
>Cons: Requires much more interdisciplinary skills
>Bad/mediocre art/animation can water down the experience/or image of a character
>Both markets are oversaturated with "low quality"/cheap material.
What do you think anons, I've had a bad history of procrastinating on things, or just feeling dejected and not having interest in my own works.

books are outdated and you have an outdated mentality

wait a few years and you can make entire animated movies quickly with AI

I say work on writing and general art concepts across mediums first and utilize AI later on

I certainly feel like when I just do stick figures, I seem to progress faster with storyboarding, but stick figures is pretty much unacceptable in any respectable media space.

Make the comic really quickly with stick figures, but draw them detailed with all the limbs and shit. Make the dialogue and story progression your main focus. Then go back and redraw the panels with actual art. Do characters first and backgrounds later

This is a lie. Nobody plays or buys games that look like shit or amateur.

You also didn't list by far the largest con of making a video game: The amount of work it involves
It's a looooot more than you would expect, to the point that your number one concern if you do go that route is scope control. If you don't say no, often, you will never ever finish it.
