A male karen called the cops on me accusing me of bumping into them without saying sorry. I left before they showed up. What do I do if they show up to my home and question me?

I didn't say anything to the guy and he approached me aggressively when I was minding my own business. I repeatedly told him to back away and leave me alone. He then got mad because I didn't apologize and called the cops. When I was attempting to leave he stood in front of my vehicle blocking me. Eventually he let me leave when enough sense got through to him but now I'm scared I'll have a warrant for my arrest. He took video of my plates and myself. I have video of him standing in front of my vehicle when I attempted to leave on dash cam.

assuming you're american, you're under no obligation to talk to the police and you are under no obligation to open your door for them. What would they even arrest you for? Bumping into someone without saying sorry isn't a crime.

American. But the thing is I'm renting a room so it would be up to the home owner to let them inside and question me.

Isn't it technically assault though? The area was under surveillance so they do have it on video. It's been a few hours and the police haven't showed up yet. Should I call the court tomorrow to see if I have a warrant?

He sounds mentally ill and if there’s one thing you can count on, is police being lazy. The cops who showed up most likely just took and report and immediately moved on to an actual crime.

There’s no reason to call. You can if you want but if you did accidentally bump into someone that’s not automatically assault, no judge wants to hear a case about this because it’s ridiculous.

>I'm renting a room so it would be up to the home owner to let them inside and question me.
You have a right of privacy in your private areas even if the homeowner allows them in. If they come in and want to talk to you you can politely refuse to speak with them.

>isn't it technically assault though
depends on the state, but generally for a criminal battery there has to be an injury or the contact needs to be offensive, and it needs to be done with a criminal intent. So accidental contact wouldn't qualify, especially if it didn't cause an injury and wasn't offensive.

>they have it on video
then they'll know its bullshit

>should I call the court to see if I have a warrant
don't worry about it, this is literally nothing

If you bumped into him on purpose, then technically yes. If it was clearly an accident, then no.

How hard will proving intent be if I didn’t say or look at him or act in an aggressive manner? Even when he loudly cursed at me I just left without reciprocating. Then he comes up to me looking to start a fight and then blocks my vehicle from leaving. Anyways I have been checking all day and I don’t have a warrant and no police have arrived. Still a little paranoid though leaving my home.

I really regret having to say this but it 100% depends on how black you are
Watch how they jump out of the car and grab this disabled guy in 2 seconds without taking even a moment to communicate, based entirely on the white guy lying.
