Hi,

I want to keep myself short. Here's the deal:

I've got mental health issues when I was 18. I studied to become a computer scientist. I still live by my parents and I'm on pills (antipsychotics) which on one hand prevent another psychotic episode but on the other hand completely rob my energy. I tried many different antipsychotics with all the same energy robbing effect. I sleep most of the time or while I'm awake I'm extremely tired. Doctors say I'm ready to work but none of them cared for my "low energy" issues. Imagine you sleep 8-10 hours and you wake up completely energyless. Until you're half-way functional it takes 2-3 hours after waking up...

I want to start my life as an "adult" and become independent from my parents but I can't fix this issue. Doctor's won't give me pills that give me energy because they say it can higher dopamine levels which can potentially cause another psychotic episode. It's all f*d up.

I abuse coffee for this
If you haven't, you can try slowly reducing your dose to the minimum effective dose for you. Be careful and tell your doctor because depending on how much insight you have into your symptoms you may not notice psychosis coming back until it's a full-blown episode.

You clearly need a different doctor. The obvious way forward is to experiment with the dosage: there might be a lower dose that is just enough to keep the psychosis under control, but not so draining. But that's not something you can experiment with by yourself; find a sympathetic psychiatrist first. (They exist).

They should be willing to give you wellbutrin, which should give some energy/motivation. I'm on something called Auvelity which is wellbutrin + dextromorphan and I like it.
