I am an accountant, and I work closely with the data entry team. Basically, they copy/paste data from the tax forms into our software, while I am tasked with reviewing everything and then managing the tax issues — the actual accounting work. I was low on work, and my manager told me to help the data entry team. I helped this black woman with some copy/pasting which is incredibly mundane and often outsourced to our offshore team as it requires little cognitive input. The black woman now keeps trying to get me to do some of her tasks and asks me if I have further availability. I would normally tell her to fuck off, but I do have availability — but I was never supposed to be tagged on this as a long-term thing. This isn’t accounting. The black woman doesn’t even have a degree. I am basically doing minimum wage copy/paste work instead of actual accounting.
Thought of telling her I have no further availability, but I am always paranoid she will reach out to the manager and could lead into investigations of what I am doing with my free time. What should I do here?
